The members of Linkin Park shared a heartwarming letter to their late singer Chester Bennington following his sudden death last week.
The music world is still trying to wrap its head around the sudden passing of Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, who died last Thursday of an apparent suicide. Bennington’s passing came just a few months following the similar death of his close friend and fellow rock singer, Chris Cornell, back in May.
While a few members of Linkin Park had shared their thoughts on the sudden and shocking death of their friend and bandmate since his passing, the band had yet to share a real statement going into Sunday night. On Monday morning, the band posted an emotional and heartwarming letter to Bennington on their social media outlets.
“Dear Chester,” the personal message starts out. “Our hearts are broken. The shockwaves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened.”
Throughout the short but impactful message, the band acknowledged Bennington’s struggle with his inner dreams while also giving the late singer a heartfelt thank you for their time spent making music and impacting the world together.
“Our love for making and performing music is inextinguishable. While we don’t know what path our future may take, we know that each of our lives was made better by you. Thank you for that gift. We love you, and miss you so much. Until we see you again, LP.”
The band had just released their seventh studio album, One More Light, back in May, and were just days away from setting off on the LP’s promotional North American tour. The tour was cancelled the day following Bennington’s death.
